If Bush uses this "You can run but you can't hide" nonsense again, Kerry should jump all over Bush with this simple response:
"What a pity the president hasn't used that same rigorous standard on Osama bin Laden, who in fact has not only successfully run, but is still hiding."

I read this from Delphine on the Kerry-Edwards blog. I thought it was worth sharing.
Instead of answering the first question, or perhaps as the closing statement, I'd like to hear the Senator say:
Mr. President, I've never run or hidden from anything in my life. I'm proud of my record in the Senate. Long before you held public office I led an investigation that exposed and dismantled down the largest network of money laundering that was financing drug cartels and terrorists. I passed into law the requirement that banks in other nations pledge to monitor money laundering or they could lose access to U.S. markets. I worked
with Bill Clinton to put 100,000 more cops on the street, I've worked for veterans'
causes, fought to cover more children with health insurance, and proposed multiple pieces of legislation to protect the environment. I'm proud
of my record.
It is YOU, Mr. pReznit, and your running mate, who are running and hiding. Why won't Dick Cheney tell us who he met with when he devised his energy policy? Why did you refuse to testify alone and under oath to the 9/11 commission? Why haven't
you, to this day, attended even one funeral of a fallen soldier, and stood shoulder to shoulder with their loved ones as they pay their last respects? Why have you had dissenters arrested when they try to attend your rallies? What are you afraid of?
I've never run or hid in my life, Mr. President. It is YOU who is running, running
from a record of lost jobs and a huge deficit and a war that you started after breaking
your promises to congress and to the American people. It is you that is now running
as fast as you can to get away from the truth, - that there were no wmds, that you
hid evidence from congress that there were grave doubts about what you were telling
us, that the inspections would have told us there were no wmd's and therefore no
reason to start a war.
You have spent this entire campaign attacking me, misquoting me and misrepresenting
my votes, but almost none of it defending your own record or proposing any new ideas
that you didn't promise four years ago and failed to deliver. It is YOU that is
running from failure.
I am proud of my service to this nation, in Viet Nam and in the Senate. I have
nothing to run from, and no reason to hide."
