GLOSSOLALIA: In Massachusetts,
Coaches on a Little League team filed a protest with the league after an umpire ordered the players to stop speaking Spanish during a state tournament game this week. Coaches said the order demoralized the Methuen players and cost the team the game. ...I guarantee this idiot won't be umpiring at the Little League World Series. In 1997 the champion team was from Mexico, and there have been several years the winners spoke Chinese, Korean, or Japanese. Maybe this guy should hang up his uniform and apply for a job in Bush's State Department, or perhaps working for Bolton when he goes to the UN by a recess appointment. He'll fit right in. National Little League spokesman Lance Van Auken said there's no rule against players speaking Spanish or any other language on the field. But he said it's too late to reverse the decision or the outcome of the game.
