Applications Submitted For the 2016 Democratic Primary

The drawing for ballot order in contested races in the 2016 Democratic primary was held December 16. Those numbers are now posted on the DCDP website and the candidates in primary contests are listed in primary ballot order on the Secretary of State's website.

Marilynn Mayse having just drawn ballot position number 1 in her three-way race for Judge, Criminal Dist. Court No. 2 (the seat Judge Don Adams is not seeking reelection for).

NOTE: For the first time in decades (perhaps since all State Representatives in Dallas County were elected at-large before single-member districts started in 1972) the Dallas County Democratic Party has filed candidates in EVERY STATE REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT IN DALLAS COUNTY.

Filing ended at 6 PM on Monday, December 14. The final list is posted at http://dallasdemocrats.org/elections/380.html

The applications listed below have now all been signed as officially filed by the Dallas County Chair, Carol Donovan. The candidates listed below are now on the 2016 Primary ballot. The order people file in does not matter to their order on the primary ballot -- that is determined by a drawing held on December 16 after filing ends.

Some Small Comfort

As the attacks go on in Paris, there is this:
Harriet Alida Lye has written to the Guardian about being trapped inside a bookshop on the rue de la Bucherie:

We are safe in the Shakespeare & Co bookshop, with the windows blacked out. There are about 20 customers with us who’ve been sat here for hours calling home
If one just has to be trapped somewhere in Paris, this would have definitely been very high on my list.

Live Blogging Filing For the 2016 Primary Saturday Nov. 14

Tomorrow, Saturday, November 14, 2015, filing begins for public office for the 2016 Democratic Primary. I'll be there at the Dallas County Democratic Primary office at 4209 Parry at Fletcher before 9 AM, ready to notarize and receive applications. Internet willing, I'll post here on this blog the names of those who come in with their forms.

Please note that the filing does not become official until the County Chair signs them (which does not always happen the same day), since the Chair has to judge their facial validity. When several candidates turn in petitions to get on the ballot (as all the judicial candidates have to in Dallas County), those may take hours or even days to count. But to see who arrived on the first day of filing and turned their stuff in, check here starting tomorrow morning.
